Naming Policy
Purpose
This policy provides guidelines for recognizing donors who contribute to the New River Community and Technical College Foundation with the intent to name a building or other facility.
Policy
To recognize gifts to the New River Community and Technical College Foundation, college buildings, campus complexes, offices, classrooms and other facilities or objects of New River Community and Technical College may be named for a donor at the discretion of the college and the donor. Naming must be in accordance with the College Board of Governors Policy #2, the Foundation guidelines and the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education.
Procedures
1. No commitment will be made on the naming of any building or portion of a building without the express prior approval of the college president and the Board of Governors. The Foundation will provide all pertinent information concerning the proposed gift to the President who will in turn inform the Board of Governors.
2. Upon approval, a commitment may be made to the donor regarding naming a building or property in accordance with the following guidelines adopted by the Foundations Board of Directors:
a. In recognition of major gifts or valid pledges for the minimum amounts specified, the following facilities may be named:

| Auditorium/Lobby/Reception Area | $ 250,000 |
| Athletic Facility | $ 100,000 |
| Conference Room | $ 50,000 |
| Campus Street | $ 50,000 |
| Greenbrier Hall Entrance Step | $ 50,000 |
| Plaza Area | $ 25,000 |
| Student Commons Area | $ 25,000 |
| Classroom or vocational room | $ 25,000 |
| Patio | $ 10,000 |
| Landscaped Areas | $ 10,000 |
b. In recognition of other significant gifts or pledges, the following facilities may have plaques installed with the name(s) of the donor(s) at the discretion of the donor(s) and as approved by the college President.

| Bench | $ 1,000 |
| Auditorium/Theatre Seat | $ 500 |

3. Upon receipt of the donors gift or valid pledge, a written recommendation will be forwarded by the Foundation to the President who will present it to the Board of Governors for final approval of the naming of a college facility. The recommendation will identify the exact location to be named, the name to be used, the type of designation, and the plan for publicizing the award.
4. After approval of the final proposal is received, the Foundation will contact the college offices that will be involved in implementing the award.
5. Scholarship naming must follow the scholarship policies of New River and the Foundation.
